How To: (Grant) Microsoft Authenticator Setup

Use the steps below to set up the Microsoft Authenticator

 

  Steps to complete:

  • Close all Microsoft applications and sign out of all browsers such as Chrome or Edge.
  • Open any browser and go to portal.office.com and login with your Grant Associates email and provided password.
  • After you click Sign in, you will be prompted for “More Information required” click next.
  • It is recommended to use the “Microsoft Authenticator App” for multi-factor authentication.
  • Install the Microsoft Authenticator App on your smartphone from Play store or Apple Store.

  • Open the Microsoft Authenticator App.
  • Click the + sign on the top right, tap on Work or school account and Scan the QR code using your phone camera.

  • Click Allow notifications with this app if prompted.
  • After scanning the QR Code, your account will show as below on the app. Then click Next or Done on your computer.
  • Two digits number will show on your computer, for verification. Please enter the two digits number on your authenticator app and tap Yes on your phone.
  • Your phone will prompt you for security approval (Face ID, Touch ID, Passcode …)

  • On the next page, add your phone number as Additional Security Verification and click Done.
  • Finally, on the prompt below, click YES to sign into your account. Clicking No will prompt you to sign
  • in after every sign-out.

 

Note: Once MFA is set up, you will be required to authenticate on a weekly basis.
